Emma Rous - guest of honour at our first literary lunch in January 2020
Emma Rous spoke about the success of her first novel The Au Pair, at a special lunch organised by Purple Horizons in January 2020.
The Au Pair is Emma’s first novel and is described as a tautly plotted mystery of dark family secrets. It has been published in 10 countries and nine languages. She also spoke about her second book ‘The Perfect Guests’. Emma was born in England and spent most of her childhood in Indonesia, Kuwait, Portugal and Fiji, before returning to the UK as a teenager to finish her high school education.
She had always wanted to be a writer, but was drawn to working with animals too, so spent six years studying veterinary medicine at the University of Cambridge. After graduating as a vet in 1997, she worked for the Cromwell Veterinary Group in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire before taking a career break in 2016 to try her hand at writing fiction.
