Cricket Festival - 11th September 2021

In September 2021 Purple Horizons organised their first large scale event - a Cricket Festival with Kimbolton Cricket Club. Kimbolton Cricket Club is situated in the idyllic village of Kimbolton in Cambridgeshire. Kimbolton enjoys a famous history centred around Kimbolton Castle, which for many years was the home of Katherine of Aragon following her divorce from Henry VIII.

The Cricket Festival saw teams representing Papworth Trust, Kimbolton Cricket Club and Rise Africa UK (a charity supporting the education of children in Tanzania) competing against each other in a limited overs tournament.

It was a glorious day with members and guests enjoying a beautiful village setting, listening to the sound of bat against ball, and drinking a glass of wine in the sunshine.

Guests enjoyed a day of delicious food starting with bacon rolls for breakfast and concluding with a sumptuous afternoon tea sitting in “Kimbolton Enclosure” which was sponsored by Ravenscroft Investments (UK ) Ltd.

Rise Africa UK were the tournament winners in a closely fought final against Kimbolton Club which concluded with a super over.
