Christopher Watson November 2019 - “The Only British owner of a Chablis vineyard”

In November 2019 Purple Horizons welcomed Christopher Watson from Chablis Domaine Watson to talk to our members and guests.

Chris is an international lawyer, qualified in England and France, specialising in major telecommunications work. He is the only English owner/grower in Chablis and is the Pilier Royal of Chablis who represents the village and the vineyards on formal occasions. Chris has planted five vineyards in Chablis, all in Chichee, and has recently also planted two Pinot Noir vineyards in nearby Irancy which have now come into full production.

His 2002 Chablis won a silver medal at the Pais Salon des Vins de Caves de Particulars; his 2010 was one of the top 10 chablis and his exceptional 2015 was selected (in a blind tasting by all of the Chablis producers) as the best Chablis at the Fete des Vins banquet.
